Tributes at Hospital Commission LEGAL PROFESSION'S L0S| A feeling tribute to th® lato Mr, Cecil Duff, a memter, of the Hawke'f Bay Hospital .Board, was made before the opening of to-day' s k sitting of the Royal Commission investigating hospital affairs at Napier. Mr. M. R. Grant, as counsel for the Hospital Board, said that it was hij sad duty to refer to the passing of Mr. Duff, who for a number of yeari had been a valued member of the' board. His passing was very suddeiu On Monday morning Mr. Duff had bee^ ,paying his respects to the commission# Yesterday he took seriously ill, and hfil death has come as a great shock tn all. Mr. Grant tendered to Mr. Duff'i widow and .family the dedp sympathSJ that was being felt hy them. all. Mr. H. B. Lusk, as president of tb« Hawke's Bay Law Society, associated; himself with Mr. Grant' s remarks andi said that Mr. Duff had1 been. held somethiug more than respect by mem» bers of the profession; they had had an affection for him. Mr. Duff's death was not only a shoek but a great grie^ Mr. E. D. Mosley, chairman of tho commission, said that tho news of Mr. Duff's passing had come as a greafi shock to him. For the last 30 year« he had known Mr. Duff personally and well, and Mr. Duff and he' had beeij great friends. .Mrs. Duff was a greaf friend of his (Mr. Mosley's) 'wife, having been present at their weddin^ 30 years ago. Mr. Duff's passing waf more than a shock to him and hi cpctended his deep sympathy to. ' hit wife and family. He 'had known. Mr, Duff to be a man of the utmost integ* rity, and one whose word conld alwayg be relied upon. « To the legal ^profession .the commission extended iti sympathy.
