WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Makotuku Meeting The monthly meeting of the Makotuku Women 's Institute was held in the suppor room of the Public Hall, when there was a fair attendance of members. The meeting opened with tho Ode, followed by the Aspirations, which were read by Miss M. Luscombe. The president asked all to stand in memory of an old member who had recently died, and a motion of sympathy with her family was passed. Mrs. Little reported having attended Miss Johnson's two' meetings re holding classes in the township. It was rqsolved .to form a dressmaking class, to start next. week'. It was also decided to ask Miss Johnson to give a lecture as well, the time to be arranged later. The president reported that the items for the birthday social were well advanccd. The resignation of Miss Mildon as treasurer was received with'regret. It was left to the committee to appoint someone in her place. The Misses H. M. and E. Luscmobe offered to decorate the hall for the birthday social. A'new member was welcomed, Miss Hawten, she having been transferred from another institute. Miss Hawten has been a member of the Drama Circle, so will be quite an acquisition to the institute. When business was concluded Mrs. Little called on Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Williams, of Ormondville, to give their demonstration on wood-pulp flowers. This proved most instructive, several members making flowers. At the conclusion the demonstrators were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The meeting closed with a dainty afternoon tea dispensed by Mrs. Anderson and Miss Mildon.
