BLENHEIM, Last Night. After two and a-half days, the first event in the South Island collie dog trials was completed carly this afternoon. There is a total of 84 dogs in the running. The weather was brilliant j for the first day but cold and showery yesterday and fine and overcast to-day. The New Zealand championships follow the completion of the South Island events. Eesults: — South Island championship, heading, bringing back and holding in ring: E. J. Wifiiens' (Dannevirke) Bet, 57$ points out of a possible of 60 1 W. Whyte's (Napier) Boy, 57 points 2 E. M. Wilson's (Kirwee) Fly, 55 points 3 G. McMillan's (Waipawa) Stan, 54$ points .. 4 E. Euthcrford's (Waikari) Speed, 54 points .. 5 J. Mead's (Nelson) Bailey, 53$ points 6 M. A. Mathieson's (Middlemarch) Scot, 52$ points .. 7 These qualify to contest. the New Zealand championship.
