GOLD AND RED COLOUR SCHEME FOR WEDDING
THORNTON— GODBER A colourfui- wedding took place at the the Methodist Church, Hastings, i,his afternoon, when Mabel Isabeila, seeond daughter of Mr and Mrs W. E. Godber, Evenden road, Hastings, was married to Harold Malcolm Gartb, pnty soir of Mr and Mrs T. H. Thornton of Clive. The Rev. R. B. Gosnell officiated at the eeremony and Miss E. Napier presided at the organ. During the service Mr Maud gave a vocal solo. The ehurch was beautifully decoratea in tlie colour scheme of the bridal party, golci and red, with golden leaves anu rea berries, with two arches of the sime coiouring. Tl e bride, who was given away by her latlier, wore a lovely go wn of gold shinnner satin with posies of oxange blossom at the square neckline in front and slashed back. The gown was cut on the cross with a eircular train and long sleeves with shoulder fullness. Her veil of golden tulle had scattered giolden leayes and was woi'n with a halo of gold leaves and tiny flowers. She wore gold kid shoes and earried a bouquet of golden tinted flowers. Two maids and two little flower girls attended tho bride. The older maids, Miss Evelyn Godber and Miss Joyce Thornton wore trained gowns of rich panne velvet, the long sleeves having lattice work over the shoulders and lattice work outlining tlie square necks. From each side of the waist was arranged a sash tied in a bow at the back. Each maid wore a latticed crown, red shoes and earried a bouquet of bronze flowers shading to red. The' little flower gfirls, Gweneth and Beverley Maud, nieces of the bride, looked very dainty in their frocks of honey-gold cire taffeta with frills at the hem and puffed sleeves. They wore capes of red velvet lined with taffeta, head bands of red velvet flowers and gold leaves and earried balls of red flowers. Mr Eric Cartright was best man and Mr George Godber groomsman. The reception was held at the Pasadena tearooxns where the guests were received by the parents of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs W. E. Godber wore a brown tailored costume and brown velour hat and earried a bouquet of autumn shaded flowers. Mrs T. H. Thornton wore a navy and white patterned frock with a navy hat and her flowers were in red and gold shades. During the reception items were given by Miss Ccpstance Dewson (recitation) and Miss Joyce Symonds (vocal solo). Mr Lew Munro was at the piano. The beautiful two-tiered wedding; cake was made and iced by Miss Mildon. The bride travelled in a brown costume with deep cream fagotted blouse and brown hat. Her fur stole-and handbag were gifts from the bridegroom and she wore a brown camel-hair coat. The guests present were: Miss N. Wyatt, the bride's aunt, Mr F. Lockwood, the bride's grandfather, Mrs 11. Meek, all of Wellington, Mr Maud, Mrs lt. Sturm, and Miss Sturm, of Dannevirke, Mrs L. C. Graham, l!lr and Mrs S. Anderson, Mr and Mrs O. Wake, Mr and Mrs L. Munro, Mrs G. Thornton, Mr S. Thornton, Mrs and Miss Waldron, Misses T. Davidson, J. Dean, M. Hutton, C. Dewson, I. Peters, 0. McKenzie, M. Beale, J. Symonds, M. Clark, E. Mildon.
