Enjoyable Evening .at. Waipawa

WAIPAWA, This Day. The annual ' ' Ladies ' Night ' ' of tha Central Lodge R.A.O.B. was held in the Municipal Tneatre, Waipawa, last evening, the -W.P., Bro. V. A. Patterson presiding over an attendance of over 150 members and 'visitors. The function wqs one of the most successfui ever held by the lodge, a most enjoyable time "being spent by everyone. - • The first part ' of - the evening ' was given over to a musical prog'ramme, which commenced with' a selection by the orchestra (under the baton of Mr E. J. Maher), which also contributed several other greatly-appreciatGd seleetibns during the evening. -Items were also : given Dy. Miss A. Collins , (songs), Messrs J." Barker, McDonald and' McDougall (songs). Cornmuhity singing was conducted by Messris Barker and C. Wedd. The following toasfs were lionoured: "The King, " "Absent Brethren,'.' " and "The - Visitors and Kindred' Societies,'.' the latter- toast .being- replidd to by Bro. D. ,-E. Britten on behalf of tho ladies, and Messrs E. Woodruffe (Foresters) and'E. C. Kingston (Manchester Unity OddfelloWs). A delightful supper was servqd, followed by dancing, music being provided by Mrs Meta (piano) and Miss B. Hodge (banjo). The duties of M.C. wero carried out by Bro. N. MaePherson. During the evening the presiding officer extended a lxearty welcome to Bro. F. Newri.ck (Dannevirke), one of the foundation members of the lodge. Bro. Newrick thanked the lodge for its warm welcome and oxpressed pleasure at the progrcss which had been made.
