9000 SHEEP PENNED AT STORTFORD
Good Market Prevails For Useful Lines TO-DAY'S VALUES Tlie yarding of 9,000 tsheup in the store pens at Stortford Lodge to-day consisted largely of breeding ewes sJid unshorn wether hoggets. A good market prevailed for all useful lines, bui; sh'abby sorts were harder to trade. The offering included some well-bred station ewes, one of the outstanding lines being on account of Whanakiro Station. Medium-grown two-tooths brought to 31/10 ,and five-year ewes well framed made .to 29/-. A. good inquiry was forthcoming for lines that were showing well up in lamb. Soundmoutfied lines brought to 23/-. The wether hoggets were ciiiefly mediumgrown sorts making to 18/3. In from Pakowhai, an entry of shorn medium- . grown ewe hoggets sold at 25/3. Smaller sorts, unshorn, made 24//-. Jtteaiisations were as follow:-— On account of Tweedie Bros., Eaupare, 264 five and six-year ewes out with Southdown rams since February /ealised 23/1. These ewes were fairly well mouthed and carried a good slipe. On account of Whanakino Station, 217 two-tooth ewes running with Rdraiiey rams since' February 25 Tealised 31/6. These mediu'm-framed ewes were well woolled and in good order. On account of Mr J. A. JMacfaxlane, Glenarn Station, 192 mixed-aged ewes out with Southdown (since March 2 brought 27/6. Only a emall tproportiqu were five-year-olds and were well mouthed and in good order. On account of Whanakino a further entry of 129 two-tooth ewes in lamb to Southdown rams sdnce February 25 realised 31/10. These ewes, which were a, genuine station line, were in similar order to an earlier entry from the same station.
Also on account of Whanakino Station, a line of five-year ewes^ including an odd six-year ewe, out wi$x Southdown rams sixice February 25, sold at 29/-. These ewes were well framed and were (showing up in lamb. An entry of 141 woolly Romuey wether hoggete, small to medium grown and' in light condition, sold at 15/-. On account of Mr W. J. Gimblett, Ngatarawa, 730 four-year ewes, out with Southdown rams since February 15, sold at 27/-. Many of these ewes were rather small framed. On account of the same vendor, aa entry of five-year ewes in- lamb to Southdown rams, sold at 26/-. In from Eskdale, 101 sound-moutb-ed ewes, out with S.D. and Romney rams since March 1, brought 20/-. Many of these ewes were on the small side and light in condition. • On account of Morea Station, 160 . welb-woolled Romney wether hoggets, including a few small grown entries, ' sold at 18/2.' ' In from Pakowhai, 170 mediumgrown woolly Romney wether lambs, in bright, sound order, sold at 18/3. From the same source a. line bf shorn Romney ewe lambs, similarly grown and bright, sold at 25/3. An entry of unshorn Romney ewe lambs, smaller gprown tham the. previous line, and ot so bright, sold at 24/-, * ______
