Industrial Possibilities In eompliance with the expresscd wishes of the' acting-Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, on tlie cecasion of his recent visit to this district, a detailed survey of the possibilities of establishing the flax-growing indnstry in the vieinity of Poukawa Lake is now in hand. Yesterday Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., and Mr I. J. Pohlen, of the Soil Survey Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Reseafch-, conferred with Mr E. M. Burke, of Wellington, and all three, with others interested in the project, made a full tour of the di'strict with a view to preparing for the Minister and the Employment BoaTd a detailed report on the scheme. together with estimates of costs and what asristance Would be required to establish the industry in this district. It is not anticipated that the Tepoft will be available for a little time yct.
