WELLINGTON, Last Night. In pursuance of the Government 's poliCy to _ give adequate broadcasting service throughout the Doahinion, fiifther modern statiotig are to be eredted, Stated the acting-MiniSter-in-Charge of BroadcaSting, the Hon. F. Jones. tonight. After an inVestigation, it had been docided to attend to the Southlatid and Hawke's Bay ai'eas fifst, and ifl a few days tendefs were being callea for ■ transmitters to sefvs those two dis= tficts. From calculations based ofl the general daia available, however, it was thoughl Ihat a power of an ordor of five Itiiowatts would be necessary at eaeh station in order to give a field strength sufficient to overcome the norlnai noise level. The length of time vfhich would elapse between the calling of tenders and the completion of stations cannot be given at present, but every effort would be made to expedite mlters. The proposed flve-kiloWatt stations would be half the power of 3YA, Christchurch.
