WALLINGFORD MEETING

The June meeting of the Wallingford Women's Institute was held on Thursday afternoon, Mrs J, D. Ormond presiding over a good attendance. Apologies Were »*eceived from Mesdames R. Stoddart, Davey, W. Rickey and Misses J. and A. Orihond. One new member, Mrs Hewison, was welcomed to the meeting, Notice was . received that the date of the drama festival had been ajtered to July 30. Mrs Ormond introduced Major $h exston, who first told of some bf ; his experiences • at the Coronation of King Edward VII. and King George V., and also King George. V.'s visit to the Durbar in India. Following this interesting talk, Major Sherston gave a vivid and descriptive talk on the North-West Frontier in India, and the campaign againat th© border tribes. At thq conclusion, on the motion of Mrs L. Wilson, the speaker was accorded a hearty . vote of thanks for his interesting address. The results of the month's competitions, which were judged by Miss Gaston, were : — Tapestry, Mrs A. S Wilder 1, Mrs A. Judd 2, Mrs A« Wall 3. Knitted bedsocks, Mrs T. Dobson I, Mrs S. Ward 2, Mrs Jamieson 3. Ginger bread, Mrs Wooster 1, Mrs S. Ward 2, Mrs Geenty 3. A ret'reshing afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Anuette, R. 1\ WiJder, Wooster, aud McDonald .
