Clive Gathering

The monthly meeting of the Clive Women's Institute was Tield in tfic supper-room of the Clive Public Hall, wnen the president, Mrs. Nicholas, piesided over .a fair attendance of members. The meeting, being the evening before the King's Birthday, opened with the National Anthem, after which the Institute song was eung and the Ode rcad. The secretary was instructed to writo again regarding electric lighting through the township. tt was decided to give 6d per member to th© Anderson triplet fund, and to place a box in all the shops for donations, as no one was available to canvas the district. The roll call was, " Children 's Sayings." This brought forth some very humorous auswers. Miss Dean gave as her Golden Thread talk an extract from James Barrie. It was decided to hold a 10-minute oiitertainment at each meeting, and thc first of the series was loft. in the hands of Mrs. Powell ad Miss Mounsey. Mrs. Ihauk Merritt played old songs for community singing, Mrs. I'otvell gave a rcading on Institute workings \ apd Mrs. B. jiliss entertained the lietcuers w-ith a song, t The demoiLstratiun for the eveniug i was folk dancing. which was given by ] Miss Mounsey, and this was grcatly ap- • preciated, nearly all the members tak- i ing part.
