Weber's Jolly Gathering
The June meeting of the Weber Women's Institute was well attended despite adverse weather conditions, and proved a very jolly gathering. The roll call, "the meaning of my Ohristian name," was very interesting and informal, and was entered into by all. It was decided to hold a fancy dress ball towards the beginning qf July, Mr Woods demonstrated the uses of the aecessories to the sewing machine, cnd gave hints on the care of sewing machines. This demonstration was most helpful and interesting. M!r Woo'ds was accorded "a hearty voto of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by tlie hostesses, Mrs Franklin and Miss Hales. The president announced that the programme for the next meeting (July 1) would be altered from that arranged. Mrs Hampton would be demonstrating sweet-making, and the compe|tition would now be small rounds orsquares of plain pufi pastry from any recipe. . The competitions, a knitted hot water bottle cover, and a bowl or vaso of foliage, were won by Miss McArthur and Mrs Myers respectively. A happy meeting closed with th? singing of the National Anthem.
