Hawke's Bay Player Chosen

WELLINGTON, Last Night. -After the final series of trials at Karori Park on Saturday afternoon the New Zealand selectors, Messrs W. Newsbam (Auckland), E. G. McLeod (Wellington) and C. C. Holland (Christchurch), announced that the following 16 players would constitute the New Zealand hockey team to tour Australia this season: — Goalkeeper: W. Smillie (Waikato). Full-backs: F. S. Clark (Auckland), D. Pountney (Waikato), A. Mahoney (Hawke 's Bay) and D. S. Wilson (Wellington). Halves: L. Watson, S. Eobertson (Auckland), D. Loader and T. Burtt (Canterbury). Forwards: E. Rough ton, L. Monteith (Auckland), R. Brown, M. Browne (WeUingtou), L. A. Best (Nelson), B. D. Duffield (Canterbury) and O. B. Dey (Otago). The average age is 24i years. With' the manager, Mr. R. Gracie, the team will sail from Wellington about July 9 and they will have one clear day free after their arrival in Australia. They will play five matches in each of the first two weeks and thereafter three matches a. week.
