FASCIST KILLING OF ROSELLIS

-Press Assn.-

Alleged Work of Secret Police ENEMIES OF IL DUCE

(By Telegraph-

-Copyright.)

PARIS, June 12. Following the shooting of the Roselli brothers, Carlo Roselli 's paper, Jlstice et Liberte, appeared this m&rning with a black border and panel drawing attention to the faet that Roselli was muraered on the thirteenth anniversary of "the assassination of Matteoti by the order of Mussolini. " The wife of Gario Roselli, whom Mussolini regarded as his greatest enemy, owing to his constant exposure of the Duce's mo3t cherished secrets was an Englishwoman, Marion Cave, a daughter of the headmaster of Harrow Boys' High School. She collapsed .on hearing the news of the tragedy, crying: "I knew it would happen." The Italians imprisoned her after Carlo engineered the escape from Lipari (Mussolini 's Devil's Island) of tho former Socialist Deputy Turati" in 1929, but the intervention of the English authorities resulted in her release. Carlo was sent to Lipari for complicity in Turati's escape, but he escaped also in 1929. 1 Strands of hair under ,the finger nails of Sabattino are one of the slender clues to the murderers of the Rosellis. They also indicate that Sabattino fought desperately for his life, but Carlo was apparently killed instantly. A post-mortem proved that both were stabbed to death. Carlo had two wounds but Sabattino had seven, one severing the jugular vein. It is believed the dagger f ound in ,the vicinity was not used in the crime, but was left as a warning, while the political charaeter of the - crime is believed to have been established by the fact that 2000 francs in Sabattino 's pocket and Carlo 's cheque book were untouched. An Italian who was arrested has been Tcleased owing to his proving an alibi. Signor Guiseppi Nitti, son of a former Italian Premier, declares that the murder of Carlo was -organised by the Ovra (Faseist Secret Police) which has long determined to kill him. The assassination coineides with the increasing discontent in Italy where a reign cf terror has been renewed. Many of, those who are discontented, including. women, in the neighbourhood of Rome and Bologna, have been beaten np. Signora Marion Roselli, widow of Carlo Rosilli, informed the British United Press that the assassinations were crimes deliberately planned and executed by the Italian Fa?*ist regime. "My husband always combated Fascism openly and honestly but he met his death at the hands of cowardly assassins who took liim unawares in accordance with principles of Fascism, ' ' she said. "I hope that the AngloSaxon world will now realis whai Fascism really is."
