Annual General Meeting ELECTION. OF OFFICERS The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Hastings Croquet Club: Patroness, Mvs J. Garnett; president, Mr Stratton; vicepresident, Mrs J. Esson; honorary secretary, Mrs C. Watkins; assistant-se-cretary, Mr F. Bennett; hon. tfeasurer' Mrs F. Bennett; hon. auditor, Mr F. Petersen; captain, Mrs F. Bennett; vice-captain, Mrs J. Esson; grounds committee, Mr attd Mrs Bennett and Mr Stratton; SeleCtion and haftdicapping committee, captain and vice-captain; committee, Mesdames Ebbett, Fenwick and Petersen, Misses Carrington and Millichamp; tea committee, Mesdames Petersen and Ebbett; delegate to Hawke's Bay Croquet Association, Mrs Bennett. It was unanimously ageed to allow play on Sundays. The club is to hold a shop as soon as possible. In the course of his annual report, the president, Mr H. P. Stratton, commented: "The naffle of the Hastings Croquet Club has agaih been kept prominent in the croquet world through the suecess achieved durthe past season by various members. At the North Island tourney Mr and Mrs Bennett won the handieap doubles; at the South Island tourney Mrs Watkins and Mr Stratton won the championship doubles; and at the Wellington tourney Mrs Sivyer and partner were sueeessful in the handieap doubles. "Numerous honours," he added, "were annexed by our members at the Hawke's Bay tournament — open championship and women 's championship, Mrs Watkins; championship doubles, Mrs Watkins and Miss Carrington; handieap doubles, Mrs Fenwick and Mrs Claughton; handieap singles, A section 1, Mrs Claughton; seetion 2, Miss Claughton; B, Mrs Duff. "Club events created great interest among the whole of our members, the results being: — Pitcaithly Buttons, Mrs Petersen and Miss Claughton; yankee handieap, A grade, Mrs Bennett 1, Mrs Fenwick 2; B grade, Mrs Davies I, Mrs Bennett 2; C grade, Mra Ebbett 1, Mrs O'Meara 2. "The club tournament, held in Mareh, proved a very popular fixture, and excellent entries were reeeived. The results were: Open. singles, Miss Carrington; handieap doubles, Mesdames Bennett and Duffi; handieap singles, A grade, Miss Claughton; C grade, Mrs Ebbett. "The committee regret to report that owing to the formation of a new club several of our membes have resigned, reducing our ineinbership to 23, but it is hoped that new members will be enrolled next season. . Among those resigning is Mrs Piekering, who has so ably filled the office of club secretary for several years, and the committee takes this opportunity of recording its sincere appreciation of her services and its regret at losing her as a member. "The club's iinances are, in the opinion of the committee, quite satisfactory. "Since the closing of the season all the courts have been top-dressed and should be in good playing order next season. ' '
