Young Burglar Receives 18 Months

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Described by the judge as a potentially dangerous criminal, ^Frederick Thomas Wilder, labourer, aged 22, was sentenced to 18 months reformative detention by Mr. Justice Northcroft today. Wilder was charged with burglary and causing bodily harm to Mrs. Grace Abbott, whom he struek with a leadweighted cndgel. "I am told that he was lucky not to be charged with murder, ' * said Wilder 's counsel, Mr. Roy Twyneham. He referred to injuries received by Wilder in a motor accident some years ago, and suggOsted reformative detention, which His Honour granted.
