WHANGAREI, This Day. Soon after the commencement of the Hukatere Returned Soldiers' ball on Wedpesday, a posise of police arrived and are alleged to have contiscated a dozen large bottles of beer and 3 similar uumber of lemonade bottles. Mr P. Stratford, president of the Otamatea lteturned Soldiers' Association said that he was at a loss to understand the action of the authorities as the parent body had never heard anything in the nature of complaint concerning the conduct of the ball. "You cannot go to a funetion of this nature any where in New Zealand and not see claret cup provided for the daneers," he said, adding that trom what he was told, the liquor allegedly contiscated was the private property of members of the committee. The Otamatea Association would stand behind the committee in any action taken,
