"Sure, I liad a swell trip and everyone was simply inarvellous, but I don't like being locked in my cabin," 6aid a 23-year-old Auckland girl stowaway, about 5ft. 2in. tall and vivacious on the arrival of the Monterey from LOs Angeles. Officially slie was a stowaway. With an American accent 6lie said: "1 went aboard the Mariposa when she was last in Auckland with the idea of farewelhng friends. While seated in a deck chair I realised that the vessel was moving out and while 1 was wondering what to do I fell asleep and' woke up the nest morning, shivejring, out at sea. 1 reported to the eaptain and was landed at Pagp Pabo where I was detained until the arrival of the Monterey on the homeward trip. I was kept under lock and key in a twoberth cabin.'*
