King's Birthday Tourney

WAIROA, Last Night. At the North Clyde Hockey ground fco-day a, tournament was heild. Play commenced at 10.30 and continued throughout the day, each match occupying 10 minutes each. As a result of the recenjb heavy rain, the ground wfls heavy ; this prevented fast play and confined the play to the forward lines. In the ladies' sectjon, Old Girls were the wmners, with 'Papuae runners-up. Waiau .won the men's section, with Waihaere A in second place. Points (Ladies) : — Old; Girls 7 ; Tapuae 6;. Aorangi 4; Ruahine 2; Waipapa 1. ' The referees .were Messrs McLachlah, Watson, Coe and Marslin. Points (Men): — Waiau 9; Wailierere i A 8; Aorangi 4; Tapuae 3; Huata 3; Waiherere B 1. The referees were Messrs Thompson, Ihaia, Coe, Carrington, Rogers and Whaanga.
