MASTERTON, Last Night. In a game that held the interest of the crowd from start to .linish, the Hawke's Bay junior representatives defeated the Wairarapa junior representatives on Masterton Memorial Park this afternoon by nine po-ints to three, mado up of two nnconverted tries and a penalty goal to oue unconverted try. The teams were evenly, matched and on the run of the play a draw would havo been a fitting result. A feature of the game was the brilliant following-up by fhe Wairarapa players, who also broke away quickly from the scrams and prevented Hawke's- Bay's impressive back lino from functioning as weli as it could have done. Wairarapa made full use of dribbling rushes, which were good tactics m view of the heavy ground and slipp'ery ball, whereas the visitors, especially in the early stages, -were too eager to pick up the bhll, with the result that frequently they were caught in possession. Both paeks played with vim and determination, and their tackling, like that of the backs, was commendable. ' " The first half ended without score. Wairarapa were first' to score in the second half, Workman touching down after the ball had bounced away from two Haw;ke's Bay men who had endeavoured to foree it. Browplie made the seores level when he dived over after a long speculator and changed defence into attack, and Hawke's Bay took the lead when Brownlie landed a penalty undei* the posts. Chtistlo scored tho last- try.. At the conclusion of the match tho "WillOughby-Donald Challenge Cup was presented to the visitors. 1 ■ j
