EVENING SECTION OF WOMEN'S CLUB ENTERTAIN

Members of the evening section oi the /Hastings Women 's Community Club entertained the V.A.D.'s and ladies o.t the Hastings Red Cross executive at a very jolly eveping party on Monday. Tho club presidont, Mrs T. H. Lowry, who ia the presidont of tho New Eealand Red Cross, welcomed the guests and also spoke of the Red Cross- work which she had seen during her recent travels. Miss Eileen Wheeler gave a piano solo, Brahm's Waltz No. 12, and responded to an cncore. Mrs H, W. C. Baird spoke most ir tereetingly about tho War Meuiorial in Edinburgh, and after tliis Miiss Nojii Coloman sang two solos, licr accompaniments being played by Mrs F. S. Budd. The two songs wero "Love's a Merchant,", and *'1 Enow a Loveiy Garden." Sister Stringer, who is a visitor to Hastings, spoke about the various branches of Red Cross wot'k, her tale being listened to with much interest. Tiie prograrame was brought to a couclusion with thc l'eadiug of a oueact play, "Flcuretto aud Co." (Essex Dano), which was read by Miss Jcan Stcvensoii and Miss Mary Lankovskv. A dolicious suppcr, which had been given by Mrs T. H. Lowry, ivas thou enjoyed by cveryonc.
