CORONATION DECORATIONS AT OLD BOYS' FOOTBALL CLUB BALL IN NAPIER

Decorations of Coronation hue gave a very festive and patriotio air to the Foresters' Hall lasfc eyening, wlien the Napier Higli School Old Boys' Football Club held their ball, which takes pjace each year on. the King's Birthday. Miss ,H. Gifford, who was in charge of the decorations, js to be congratulated on tUe delightful eft'ecf achieved. Balloons and paper ribbons in red, white and blue were suspeflded from the ceiling, and royal shields adorned the walls, interspersed • with streamers. Baskets of hanging ferns and tall pahns were arranged on the stage, where the orchestra played and a copy of the school shield was to be . seen amid eoloured streamers " at the back of the orchestra. The room at the baek of the stage Was arranged as a lounge, and upstairs the supper-room was artistically decorated with stfeamers in the club cclours of blue and white. Large bowls of iceland poppies were beautjfnlly arranged on the long tables. To a large extfent much of the success of the evening was due to the untiring efforts of the foliowing committee: — Blessrs W. Heffernan, R. Kennedy (jojnt secretaries), G. Bicker- I staff (club secretary), I. Prime, R. Hawkins, C. Russell, J, McCluskey, N. Willis. Great praise is also due to the foliowing ladies who spared no effort to make this year's function eurpass all previous efforts : — Misses G, Wiiliams and B. Reid, assisted by Mesdames W. Corbett, L. Harris, H. Wylie, N, Neal, J. McCluskey, ]D. Martiu, G. Cromie, W. O'Connell; Misses B. Bradley, N. Boyd, E. Clarke, J, Gilberd, H. Gifford, G. Heinhold, M. Spriggs, M. Turtle, A. Strandbeck, and L. Gilberd, The supper arrangements were excellent, there being a plentif ul array of delicious savouries and sweets, which were enjpyed by all present. The dance music .was supplied, by Les Henry's orchestra, a splendid programmo being played. Gordon Redward's orchestra rendercd extras. Noticed among those present were j Mrs W. Corbett, golden brown frock of mirror ring velvet .with long sleeves and tiny buttons trimming the back of corsage, salmon ping ros© on shoulder. Miss B. Bradley, silver laine frock sho€ with green. Miss H. Gifford, long slim fitting frock of gold lame -with floral shoulder straps and headband. Miss M. Turtle, mist blue relvet frock, gold lame coatee. Mrs V. Wallis, parchment chantilly lace, long sleeves and gold lame bow on corsage. Mrs Y. Banks, light blue checked crepe suede worn with cape of white crushed velvet. 0 Mrs Jeff. Harding, .white frock of georgette with insets bf chantilly lace, silver shoulder spray, short white fur coat. Miss L. Cornford, white satin crepe, patterned in large blue and red flowers, blue velvet waistband. Miss N. Angove, black crepe corona white corsage striped in silver. Miss M. Newton, white moire crepe satin gathered corsage trimmed with violets. Mis$ M. Brown, crimson needlerun lace with diamante girdle.
