Mr. H. L. Stewart, Hastings, ie visiting Wellington. Mr. W. M. Angus, Napier, ia at present in Wellington. Professor I. L. Kandel, professor of education and associate in the International Institute at Teachers' College, Ca3>ambia Uhiversitv, will arrive in Auckland iiyj, tlie Monterey on Friday in order to attend the New Education Fellowship conference. He is regarded as the leading authority on the study of comparative education. His wifo, who also has high academio honours. will accompany him, Mr. R. R. Macintosh, aon of Mr. Charles N. Macintosh, formerly ,of Tiimaru, has been appointed the first Professor of Anaesthetics in the Univereity of Oxford under Lord Nuffield's gift. The appointment carries a salary of £2500 a year, and dates from February 1. Dr. Macintosh, who was born in Timaru, will receive an honorary M.A. degree of the univereity and will become a member of Pembroke College. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Eddnburgh, and has ispecialised in anaesthetics for a number of years in London.
