SMALL YARDING
Poor Quality Cattle At Waipukurau To-day SLOW SELL1NQ Unfavourable weather conditions prevailed at Waipukurau tO'day, and there was on unusually small yarding of stock at the weekly sale. Quality was abaent in the cattle section. The fat pens consisted of a few lots of aged Jersey sorts of • a nondespript nature. With this quality offering selling was slow, . apd diffioult, the buyers being content to look on. The store 1 cattje were npt in any better order, the few entries off high oountry; 2U-month steerg and heifers in backward and very poor order, showing hard condition, being very slow to eell. There Was nb inquiry for these poorly-done young stock, whjeh showed little prospect of coining away at all well. The miscellaneous pens of mixed-bred entries made all that they were worth. STORE CATTLE. In from Wakarara, a ■mall entry of medium-grown, kght. in con'ditjon 20month Hereford heifers, were passed at £3 '10/-.' Also jdown from Wakarara, 11 poorlygrown Aberdeen Angus 20-month steers, in very light, backward order, very tucked up, made £5 io/-. 02 the sanve property, 13 similarbred high counfry 20-inonth heifers, also in hard condition and backward, did not attract to sell at £4 1/-. An entry, of vety light 20-month Hereford and Shorthom steers, in poor order, showing hard condition, were slow to sell at £4 13/-. FAT SHEEP. A small entry of well-woolled medium weight wethers, carrying a good finish, brought 27/6, An entry of smalp grown woody Romney hoggets, light order, second quality, made 19/-. A line of 31 medium-framed ewes, carrying a goqd slipe, prime fiuish, made good buying at 24/9. An entry of lighter ewes, lacking the finish and quality of the previous pen, made their value at 21/-. * -A small entry of medium-gown, early shorn prime wethers brought 28/9.
