TRADE WITH THE EAST
OppGriunity Oiered By Di'reet SMpping NEW ZEALAND'S CHANCE In furtherance of the efforts to dovelop New Zealand trade with the East the Associated Chambers of Commerce, Wellington, has advised the Hastings Qhamber that the executive has adopted the Wellington recommendation UrgiUg upon all Chambers the desirability of taking the fullest advantage of the facilities now afforded for direct trading with Eastern conntries, particularly m extending New Zealand exports to those conntries. 'You will be aware how much consideration has been given in the past by Chambers of Commerce, and other bodies, to the question of g reater trade with the East," states the circular letter," and to the fact that no great progress conld he made along this line owing to the lack of shipping facilities. Now that direct shipping connection is available through three shipping companies, it is urged that full use be made by New Zealand exporters of these shipping lines so as to extend NeW Zealand's exports." The three shippihg compirties now affording facilities for trade with the East are the Osaka Shosen Kaisha (O.S.K.), the Yamashita. 2!sen Kaisha (Y.K.K) and the Royal Packet Navigation Company.
