GREEN TAFFETA WORN BY MAID AND FLOWER-GIRL
SMART— FENWICK White chrysantheiuums, violetg and trails of asparagus fern decorated the Hastings Methodist Church and small sprays of vioiets and fern marked tlie guests pews on Saturday when tbc Rev. R. B. Gosnell offieiated at the wedding of Iris Aiieen, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Fenwick, of Clive, and WiJired William, son of Mr.and Mrs H. W. Smart, of lluaniai. Ashhurst. The bride, who was escorted by lier father, wore a lovely bridal gown of sii very- white satin faconne wroh u oircuiar train falling from a paneiled skirt. The neckline was soft.y cowled and the iaggotted raglan sleeves were fully puffed to the elbow and then tight-ntting to the wrist. She wore a daintily embroidered tulle veil which had been lent to her by her best friend and carried a shower bouquet of white camellias, pale pink carnations and maidenhair fern. The bride's sister, Miss Rona Fenwick, of Palmerston North, was her bridesmaid, and she wore a full-.ength frock of leaf-bud green corded taffeta with a stitclied liem and the matcliing long-sleeved coatee had stitched revers. She carried a muff of violets and wore a Juliet cap of violet velvet fiowers with a net brim. Little Elizabeth Drew, niece of the bridegroom, wore a full flared frock of the same material and wore a Victorian cap of violet velvet flowers and green net. She carried a ball of violets and both she and the older maid wore green shoes to rnatch tlieir f rocks. As th© bride left the vestry the little liower girl presented her with a horseshoe of violets for good luclr. The duties of best man -were carried out by Mr Reginald Smart. Following the ceremony about 50 guests were entertained at the Hawke's Bay Farmers' tearooms, where a very jolly reception was lield, Nearly 30 telegrams of congratulations from aJl parts of New Zealand were received by the bridal couple. The wedding guests were welcomed by Mr and Mrs H. Fenwick, Mrs Fenwick wearing a gown of navy blue grape leaf cloque with hat and aceessories to matcb. Her bouquet was composed of gladioli, chrysanthemums and fern. Mrs H. W. Smart, the bridegroom's mother, wore an Amencan model frock in rich funchsia shade with a brown hat and coat and carried a bouquet of shaded pink carnations and maidenhair fern. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom left for tlieir honeymoou, a motor tour of the North Island, tho bride travelling in a navy blue cJoquo tunic frock with navy hat and coat and aceessories. ,
