For a time play was ntailily cotifined to neutral terrltory and to the forwai'ds, both paeks iudulging iil BOllie excellent movements. Celtic hegan to^exert tlie pressure tort'ards the end of ihe spell. Good, hard rueking wofk by the„ forwards was a prelude to Hannigan's battling ln's way over for 'a well-earncd try. For a time after the interval the Villagers shaped very well and more than held their own, but the persistent pressure by Celtic wore them down. Hannigan fittingly was responsihle for the avalanche of scoring that Celtio promoted, the forwards following his lead in great style. First Maaka scrambled over in a handy position for Pullen to convert, and the latter shortly afterwards collected a field goal. The backs then took a h-and, and a good passing bout ended in Hannah's getting over at the corner. The next effort of note was by Bennett, whO, backed up well by his fellow-forwards, went through the Villagers for a try that Hollis converted. Havelock, however, had the final say in the scoring when C. Joll landed a penalty goal, making the final score 26 — 6.
