Authors of Books Articulate Them for Use of Blind
NEW YORK. — ^Portions of outstanding works by distinguished' American authors are being recorded for the blind in the voices of the authors themselves by the American Foundation for the Blind here. Several such recordings on Talking Book disks have been completed and the Foundation plans more. Stephen Vincent Benet has just completed his ,personal part in the recording of his long novel and verse, "John Brown's Body." The whole recording was in itself a novelty, as five readers in addition to the author took part. Mr Benet's voiee opens the Talking Book with the introduction and invocation. This famous volume makes full use of its range as a sound book by bringing in ineidental music of the period as an accompaniment to many of
the passages and incorporates famous Civil War songs in the martial episodes.
