WANGANUI, This Day. t_oaking rain fell last night, and there were heavy showers during training operations this morning, when the going was soft. Arrivals last night dncluded Hunting Maid, Sporting Song, Kentucky iriong, Te Huia, Tonnerre, Taro, The S?*ndwichman. Bpoi'bing Song and Kentueky Song jumped three hurdles well, and later galloped seven furlongs, the last halfmile in 51£sees. Ben Braggie did half a mile in 50secs. Dietate had the better of The Sandwichman over three furlongs in 37 4-5secs. Clarion Call and Hunting Queen did six furlongs in 1.20 4-5. Master Norval covered three furlongs in 39 l-5secs. Brazen King did a similar task. John Charles and Contact were sent over five furlongs, taking 1.8. Tonnerre did a solid round, hitting out well. Platter did a half-mile in 54secs. Tiger Gain finished better than Eoyal Banquet and Ethiop at the end of seven furlongs xun in 1.33$. Eeipar has gone amiss and will not start at the meeting, though he has not yet been scratched. Dietate was scratched for the Balgownie Handicap at 11.25 this morning. Later: Reipar was scratched for all engagements at 12.50 p.m. «
