WHANGAREI, This Day. Mary Drake, eighteen-montbs-old /faughter og Mr G. E. Drake, Titoki, was drowned in a creek tbis morning. The childh followed her sister to tbe road on the way to school and, apparently unknown to the elder girl, fell off a small woodeu bridge across tbe creek. Fifteen minutes later the mother saw tbe child floating on tbe surface of the creek. Artificial respiration, including the old Maori method of holding tbe cbild in smoke, failed. " An inquest will be opened later.
