PACT APPEARS TO BE IN JEOPARDY
(Received 4, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. The trade pact between Britain and America which promised ultimately to emerge as one of the most important sequels of the Imperial Conference appears to-night to be in jeopardy. ^ This is entirely due to premature publio discussion arising out of official reluctance to reveal the nature and progress of the deliberations. Many of the details that have leaked out have proved accurate, leading to the belief that &11 Anglo-American pact is imminent, involving modification of the Ottawa agreements, whereas, although this might he intended ultimately, there has not been any question of attempting to reach an agreement before the conclusion of the conference. Even jf the conference reacbed agreement in principle it would be necessary for Britain and the Dominions to discuss the matter in their respective parliaments.
