OBITUARY
I Mrs. Jane Moroney There passed away on Mbnday last another of the old pioneers of this district in the person Gf Mrs Jane Moroney, of Pakipaki, in her S5th year. The deceased lady came to New Zealand from Ballyhone, Londonderry Courtty, Ireland, and arrived at Napier in Ssptember, 1875, ,by the sailing siiin Helen Denyf Her husband preaeceased her six yeats ago. The funeral took place-on Wednesday from the Catholie Church at Pakipaki, where solemn Eequiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Eather Riordon, assisted by Eathers Heaghney and Cullinane, and the music of the Mass was sung by the Maori girls' choir of St. Joseph's College, Greenmeadows, The church was filled with European and Maori friends, and the large cortege that followed the remains to the Hastings cemetery testified to the esteem in whieh the deceasd lady was held. 'To mourn her loss she leaves a fam- • ily of fotif daughtei's, Mrs W. Pownailj Hastings; Mrs P. O'Kane, Ardkeen; Mrs J. Robertsdn, Wanganui; and Miss' T. Moroney, Pakipaki; and' one soa, Mr W. D. Moroney, of Pakipaki, to whom the sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended.
