Values Firm at Stortlord To-day WETHERS IMPROVE Firm prices were experienced in the store-sheep market at to-day 's sale at Stortford Lodge. Wethers showed an improvement, and other lines sold firmly at late rates. Seleeted entries and prices paid are as follow: — A line of 519 woolly wether hoggets, m from and on account of Mr J. A. Macfarlane, Glenaros, fairly woolled, medium grown and in active order, made 17/4. Offered on account of Mr Ralph Holden, Te Mahanga, a line of 344 fat and forward tivo-tooth wethers, well grown sheep,.in great order, met a good mquiry to meet the market at 2S/2. A pen of 220 five-year ewes, down from Rissington and on account of Mr H. R. Clark, run with Southdown rams, soundly mouthed, quite well woolled, and in good order generally, passcd at 23/-. A draft of 134 two-tooth wethers, in from Crownthorpe, medium framed, in active store order, somewhat mixed, but a useful hoid-over proposition, realised . 22/10. In from Moteo and on account of the Higgins' Estate, a draft of 241 twotooth wethers, medium to fairly grown, m active store order, made 23/-. A further pen of Moteo two-tooth wethers, 101' in the line, better finished sheep, started at 24/- to sell at 25/1. A pen of 51 Moteo two-tooth wethers, showmg the Corriedale in their makeup, realised 21/6. A pen of 135 woolly blackface wether lambs, -in from Crownthorpe, medium framed, and in quite good order, made 15/8. In -from Maxaetotara and on account of Mr S. M. Palmer, a pen of 148 woolly- ewe lambs, well grown and a brig-ht line • of * quality young Sheep, made 28/9.* *- • , • , A* pen of - 133 aged ewes, a fattening line; mixed in the frames and in condition,' sold at 8/6. . A pen of 67 sound£mouthed ewes, on account " of Harold Beamish, run with Soiithdown •rams. Well grown, fairly well woolled, .made *32/6. A pen ' of ' 63 ewe/ lambe, down from the Sherenden district, somewhat mixed in size, in 'active order, met the market at 23/6 from a 16/- start. A pen of:125 woolly wether hoggets, somewhat seedy in the wool, medium framed and fresh, made 15/-. Eighty six-year ewes, run / with Southdown rams, fair mouths, in from a Tukituki -vendor, stxongly woolled. store to . fresh conditibned, passed at" IV'.. : - . ' ' ■ ' ' :• .7. A pen of 66 emtpty two-tooth ew'ee, strongly woolled, medium framed, made 26/6. • . • ' A line of 51 four' and five-year ewes, on account of "Mr Kinross-White, Omarunui, run with Romney rams, big framed sheep, in exceptionally prcme order, attracted butchering eompetition to sell oiit at 31/7. A small entry of fat sheep met with steady eompetition at firni rates at Stortford to-day. At the time of going to press the following were some of the prices realised.— A bid of 32/- secured a pen of 10 prime heavy ewes, on account of a Bay Yiew vendor. 1 Ten ewes, well grown and prime, sold at 27/3. ' A pair of black-face lambs, mediumframed, and finjshed, made 23/-. Tkirteen prime lieayy ewes, in from Sberonclen, and on account of Mr. E. N. C. Clarkson, sold .strongly at 34/-. Fifteen prinve ewes, well framed, made 33/-, anpther pen going at the same figure. AA line of 45 ewes, well grown and prime, made 27/6. A pen of 10 wethers, on account of Mr. E. N. C.' Clarkson, well grown and weighty , sold at 34/3. , A second pen made .30/6. • Eight .blackface . , lambs, medium grown and finished, sold at 25/6. Six . fat blackface lambs, fairly grown, made 27/-. Eighteen ewes, in. from Moteo, and on. account of tho Higgins Estate, made 30/-, further pcns making to 28/6.
