F.M.T. Cup Qualifying Round

WAIPAWA, Last Night. Ccnditions were perfect on Saturday for the first qualifying round for the F. M. T. Cup, and a large number of players eompeted for a place. Some good scores wero registered, tlio following teing the best: —
The draw for this event for Wednes« day is as under, players to .be on the mark by 1.15 p.m. sharp and all cards to be returned: — Bryant plays Shackleford; Edwards plays Tickner; Bishop plays Rust; Clark plays Orr; Dwight plays Woods; Norris playa Knobloch; Surridge plays Dallas; Petersen plays Diek; Fox plays Jeffery; Mitchell plays Holt; Walker plays Kihg. Tlie final for the Wednesday scction was fought out between Bryant and Mitchell, resulting in a victory for Bryant, who now nieets R. Knobloch for the final of this event. The N.Z. Golf Association 's effort for the King George Memorial Fund will benefit to the extent of £1 1/6 as a result of the Waipawa Club's effort during the week-end. During the morning a stroke round was played, resulting in a win for Watts with a fine net 68, followed by Collings with 70 and Knobloch 71. The afternoon round resulted in a win for G. Knobloch and Mrs Angus, who in a Canadian foursonie returned a card of 65. Next week-end a match will be played against the Marakeke Club on the latter 's links, eighteen players being required. The team will be announcod later.
