More Births Recorded HASTINGS STATISTICS An unusual inconsistency is revealed. in the vital statistics for the moxxth juH ended, compared with those for May of last year. Tlxere has been almost a 10G per cent decrease in the number of deaths recorded, while the number of hirths have iucreased by 25 per cent. The number of marriage licences issued, however, was fairly qonstant. . Details of the two periods under review, as supplxed by the Regxstrar of Deaths, Births axxd Marriages, Mr W. M. Will, for the Hawke's Bay district, are as follow : —
