TECHNICAL TO GO ON WITH PROTEST
Playing of Peeti in Breach of Residential Rule MEETING FALLS THROUGH Technieal O.B. have decided to continue with their protest at the playing of J. Peeti in the Rugby match the club played with M.A.C. at Napier on May 15. The meeting proposed for Saturday between officials of the club and players of the M.A.C. side was not to* the satisfaction of the Technieal officials, as one of the players did not turn up for the discussion. "We have decided to let the matter rest juet where it is," said Mr, V. Rouse, secretary of the club, when questioned this morning. "Wo arranged the meeting for before the game, but Peeti was not there. Reid, the captain of the club and E. Jackson turned up as arranged. Tbe meeting was then arranged for after the game, but again Reid and Jackson turned up and Peeti did not. "We have now taken the attituckthat, as Peeti is either not sufficiently interested to attend the meefc'.ng or has some reason for not witshing ti> meet us, we should go on with the protest. We therefore decided to do that." Following the game in question— Technieal were deprived of victory at' the last moment when Peeti kicked a magnificent field goal from half-way the Technieal club decided to protest becauso Peeti, they contended, had not fulfilled the resddential qualifications uecessary to enable him to play. The matter was discussed at two meetings of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union, and at the latter .it was decided that it should be defetred to .enable tho meeting between Technieal and M.A.C. to take place in the hope of an amicable vettlement. Now, however, the question will be decided at the meeting of the union on Wednesday evening.
