PROVINCIAL PERSONALS
The Rev. Canon E. D. Rice is at present in hospital, but is reported to be progressing fairly well. The services at St. Mary's Church yesterday were conducted by lay-readers. Mr. Jack Brittain, recently of Waipukurau,- but now of Wellington, is spending a few days' holiday with his mother, Mrs. J. Brittain, Porangahau road. — Mr. J. Wood, of Waipukurau, who has been spending a fortnight's holiday in Wellington, returns home tonight. Captain Edith Christopher, officer in charge of the -Salvation Army in Waipukurau, has received word from headquarters, Wellington, of her promotion to the rank of adjutant. Mr and Mrs P. O. Ross, of Wanganui, are on a short visit to Wairoa prior to leaving on a three tnonihs' visit to Australia. Mr D. Sinclair-Thompson, of Mount Eden, Auckland, is touring the Waikaremoana and Wairoa districts. Miss G. Itobertson, of Dunedin, who has been on a holiday visit to friends in Wairoa, has left > again for the south. Mr W. H. Flint has b£en appointed a member of the Wairoa iTire . Board, vice Mr. W. H.
