The chairman of the Hui! |Watch Committee commenting on this good work, mentioned that some critxcism had been expressed at itp original cost, but tbe machirie had justied itself the first time it was used. He espressad the hope that the time would como when the city possessed four such eseapes to enable them to fight fires of that description successfully. The macliine cost £4000.
