Felftjrraph

. DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Mr. A. Thomson, of Vlctorla avenue,; Dannevirke, had an exciting experience'j with a young Polled Angus bullock. Mr.j Thomson was in the vicinity oi thej Miller 'a road-London street . intersec-i tion, near the .residence of Mr. T. S„ L. Rowe. The recalcitrant animal broke i away from a mob and defied the dogs of the drover which endeavoured to bring him back into position, charging them repeatedly. Netx the beast Tan on to the footpath and charged the gate of Mr. Ecwe's residence, making strenuous but ineffectual efforts to push through. Mr. Thomson was on the footpath j not far away and the animal theni directed its attention to him. He charged Mr. Thomson, struck him in the stomach, knocked him on his back into • the water ehannel and took up a men-| acing attitude when standing over him with a hoof on one of-his legs. Fortunatoly Mr. Thomson had a walking atick and with this, while recumoent, he paid vigorous attention to the point of the nose of the his excited assailant. ' Meanwhile Mrs. Eowe was standing at the gate calling vigorously in an endeavour to attract the beasf 's attcJ?tion. Mr. Thomson ultimately was ahle to arise when the bullock gave him the chanco, got close to a telegraph post and later insido Mrs. Rowe's gate, which was again assaulted hy the animal in an endeavour to get through but vigorous pushing by those inside kept it out and later it was induced to go in the desired. direction. Fortunately Mr. Thomson, though somewhat bruised, was not otherwise | injured but he has now a.greater appre-, ciation of what it feels like to be a! tyreadcSr.
