Birthday Party and Kitchen Tea

KOTEMAORI, This Day. A surprise birthday party was given to Mrs McArthur on Monday evening at her home. Mrs Moran, in presenting a posy to Mrs McArthur, also asked her to aceept a small gift from her friends in appreciation of the hospitality extended to one and all. After drinking the health of the guest of honour miniature billiards was played unti/1 a late hour, when a delightful supper was partaken of. A prettily iced cake held pride of place. Among those present were; — Mr and Mrs McArthur, Mr and Mrs S. Jones, Mrs Gain, Mr and Mrs Horau, and Mrs and Mrs Bee. On Tuesday evening at Willowflat the charming old home of Mr and Mrs D. M. Ross, a kitchen tea was given by Mrs Barrie for her neiee, Miss Mary JDewes (Napier), Dancing and musical games were much enjoyed, and after a most . sumptuous supper, the many presents were opened, and the rliymes which accompanied each gift caused much amusement. Miss Dewes, wearing a modish green lace frock, thanked all present for the wonderful array of presents and the jolly evening. Dancing was kept up till a late hour. Among those present were : — Mrs Ross (grandmotber of bride-elect) in a graceful black ring velvet frock : Mrs Borrie, in a floral voile; Mesdames Bee, McArthur, M. and H. Fraser, Grapes ; Misses Dewes, Halibarton, Jessop, L. Fraser: Messrs D. Fraser, senr., D,, M., A{ , and C. Fraser, M. and T. Murphy, T. Haliburtou, J. Borrie.
