Government Test To Ee Made. Concrete posts manufactured by the Central Hawke 's Bay Electric Power Board will be tested by a Government official next Monday, preparatory to being used on extension work to be carried out by the board in various parts of its extensive area, When this work starts, it will mark the first occasion upon which these locally-manufactured poles have been used. The Power Board is embarking upon a £10,000 extension scheme ,to take about eight months at least. No Ploughing Match. No ploughing match will be held this year by the Takapau Ploughing Match Club, which reached this decision.at a cneeting on Wednesday night. This course has been followed because of the large number of fixtures in the town and district during the coming months. Borough Fire Insurance. Waipukurau 's water xeticulation was inspected this week by an engineer of the New Zealand Fire Underwriters' Association. He is to make a report to the association upon the question^ of re-classifying the borough with a view to a decrease in the fire insurance premium. This maftor was taken up by the Waipukurau Borough Council last October, acting on a suggestion from the Chamber of Commerce. _ The engineer also inspected "the equipment of the local Fire Brigade.. Boy Injured. A lad named Michael Murphy, employed at Woodlands, near Putere, by Mr T. O. MOssman, sustained a fracture of the right leg below the knee, and was admitted to the Wairoa Hospital after travelling 40 miles, two miles being on horseback. - Otane R.S.A. The Otane Returned Soldiers' Association's annual meeting was held in the Library room, when there was a good number present. The report and balance-sheet disclosed that last year had been a very satisfactory one. A vote of thanks was passed to all those wlio had assisted with the various functions held. The following officers, together with a strong committee were elected for the ensuing year: — Chairman and district representative, Mr G. Voyce; secretary, Mr J. Maedougall; treasurer, Mr D. W. Harper. It -was decided to hold the annual re-union early in June.
