Hastings Donations To Memoriai Fund MAYOR RENEWS APPEAL Further donations received by the Mayor of Hastings, Mr G. A. Maddison, during the past 24 bours towards tbe King "George Y. Memoriai Fund for tbe establishment of permanent children's health camps have placed tbe Hastings fund close to tbe £450 mark. "I bave already made my appeal through the Press for subseriptians to tbis very nvortffy object," said Mr Maddison, when discussing tbe appeal generally. "I have eince cjrcularised various citizeps, business firms, industrial unipns .and employees of business an'd copimet'cial lustitutions, and I hope tbat as tbe result tbe final amount subscribed will be in keeping with tbe status of Hastings and this part of tbe district. "I bave been advised that a quota has been set for eaeh part of the Dominion, and so far Hastings has failed to rea.ch that quota," he said. "In view of this, I would again appeal to the people to support me in my appeal, wbicb I can assure one and all, is indeed a very wortby cause.'? Mr Maddison said tbat be had noticed tbat certain business interests wbo had their headquarters perhaps at Wellington had been making their contributions to tho fund direct or to tbe Mayor of Wellington' s fund, This had in no small way heen a handicap upon the Hastings fund in securjpg the amount expeeted from this district.
