Man-Hunt Interrupted HURRIED RETREAT IN SCRUB Sidelights of tbe police search at Rukumoana yesterday for a young Maori suspected of being concerned in the thefts of cars at Hamilton and Westshore provided some interest to the few spectators While in a scrubeovered paddock, one of tbe constables engaged in the searcb attracted tbe attention of a large bull, wbicb showed its resentment at tbe intrusioji into its domain by immediately lmveringj its head and charging i'ui'iously at the officer, Deciding tbat discretion was by far the better part of valour, tbe constable hurriedly ceased operations and set off at higb speed for tbe nearest fence, the bull hot in pursuit. Witb little or no respect for tbe majesty of the law, tbe animal sped after him, and tbe cbase entered tbickly-growing scrub. Here tbe constable was able to make better time and rapidly drew away from his pursuer7 wbo goon gave up tbe cbase and concentrated on wrecldng several manuka busbes.
