AUCKLAND, Last Night. Seventeen definite cases of infantile paralysis have been notified to the Health Department in the Auckland Ccntral and Thames-Tauranga health districts since May 1. Of these patients eight were from the city area and four, one of whom was a traveiler passing through from the South Island^ werej admitted to the Auckland Hospital from the country districts. The remaining five patients were admitted to country hospitals, three .going to Tauranga, one to Coromandel and one to Thames. An additional 11 cases which were sent to hospital as suspects, have since proved to be negative. 5 No positive cases have been reported since Tuesday* In the Auckland, Thames and Tauranga districts during April, 30 cases were reported to the health authorities.
