FIXTURES MAY BE REVISED
Second Round of Rugby Competition APPLICATION BY M.A.C. Ari application by M.A.C. for the rearrangement of the second round of the Hastings-Napier .senior Rugby competition in order that they could play weaker teams if their leading players wer© occupied in national trial matches was before the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union last night, The application was at first refused, but later the matter was reopened, and a reply .was deferred until the possibility of rearranging tJie whole of the second round to suit other teams as well has been investigated. When the application was at first discussed the union felt that as one of the Saturdays for the trial games coincided with a bye for M.A.C. the application was not justified, particularly as the position would also apply to other teams. "At a meeting of the sub-union last evening," stated a letter from the Hastings sub-union, "it was decided to recommend to the fixtures committee that it should rearrange the second round of the senjor-grade competition. The M.A.C. club anticipates having two players taking part in the trial games in connection with the New Zealand representative team and would prefer that they met weaker teams while these players are absent." When Mr N. A. McKenzie arrived at the meeting, however, the qUestion was reopened by the suggestion that it was possible to arrang© the entire second round in order to suit all clubs in the matter. It was decided to hold over the reply to Hastings pending a repoit by the fixtures committee. At the meeting, Mr J. W. Norrie presided over Messrs B. A. Grenside, N. A. McKenzie, L. E. Harris, E. A. Young,. A. D- Lynch, J. W. Callaglian, H. V. Phillips, B. Tweedie, E. A. Masely, F. Cray, R. I. Harrison, and W. Lockhead.
