Values Show Trend Towards Easier Levels QUALITY LACKING » _ A quiet market ruled for fat cattle at Stortford Lodge to*day. The yardt ing of 200 station-bred lines laeked quality, except in a few pens, and val* ues showed a trend towards easier levels. Extra prime v sorts, however, sold readily, making late values. Good ox beef made 30/-- per 1001b. and better, an extra choice pen making 34/-. The top price for an exceptionally heavy bulloek, on account of Mr. Robert Harding, o'f Raukawa, was £13 10/-. Medium weigEt prime-finashed sorti brought to £11, while small-grown, wellfinished entries brought to £10 10/-. Several entries of bulloclcs laclced fln-' ish and were of very plain quality, beiug. much below butchexs' Tequixelaentls. Several pens of heifers wero offered, but these were_ cbiefly sniall grown, showing good finish to make to 24/- per 1001b. Good quality entrieB . were offered on oecount of Mr. J. Intosh, of Waimarama, and Mt. Enn Station. ' A number of pens of vealeTs wero offered including some well-done sorts, which made to £4 after good competit tion froip the bntchers. _ A large percentage of the cows offern ed were of plain quality, and valuei • made indicated quite satisfactory salea, The best quality made 21/- per lOOlbs* while the plain sort (showed an improve-' iaent on the scheduled rates. Th* poorest quality sold well above th# • "boner" schedule of 14/6 per 1001b. A feature of a number of the penej throughout the sale was that they, werd * empty after having been on the road fof a few days and in consequence thq condition shown was solid beef. Realisations were as under: — 0& BEEF PRICES. A single well-framed weighty _Herefortl bulloek, showing prime quality, a good entry of winter beef, brought £12 3/-. Two rather lighter-finished prime Ab'erdeen Angus bulloek, of useful weights, Sold at £11 11/*. An entry of five mixed-bred, well* fiamed bullocks, medium finished and Of plain quality, except ohe smaller* grown which was in prime order, made£11 5/-, the xemainder making to £11.. An entry of unfinished Hereford . bullocks of plain quality made to £9 15/-. On account of. Mr Harding, Rau- * kawa, an extra weighty, well-framed, ; * horned Hereford bulloek, a good heavy • winter beef quality entry 9 brought £13 10/-. In the same pen two mediumrframed , horned Hereford croes bullocks, solidly finished, being in prime order, were . passed at £10 15/-. On account of Mrs M. E. Ellison, v Te Aute, an entry of medium-framed, prime-finished Sihorthorn ? Hereford cross bullocks, fattened at Tomoana, brought to £11. On account of the same vendor, a further entry of similarly hred bullocks prime finished and in good order, mad* - to £10 17/6. In from the Puketapu district, a line of smrall to medium-grown young - Aberdeen Angus bullocks, solidly finished and showing quality, made to £10 5/-. Three dehorned 30-month steers, in extra prime order and should Mll at 6001bs. a choice quality entry, sold at £10 13/-. HEIFER VALUES. On account of Mr J. Mclntosh, Waimarama, five small to medium-framed Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross heifers quite well finished, showing prime , quality, a fine young beef entry} sold according to weights to £8 1/-. On account of the same vendor, a further entry of similarly bred heifers, ' smaller grown but showing a good finish, sold to £7 10/-. From the same source, a heavy Aber- • deen Angus heifer, extra well finished and in prime prder, an attractiv® quality entry, realised £9 4/-. On account of Mt. Erin Station two small-grown Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross heifers, nicely finished, a good light beef entry, brought £7. On account of the same vendors, an entry of dehorned Hereford heifers, small grown, similar in finish to the previous entry, being quality young beef, sold to £7 5/-. COW BEEF RATES An entry of medium-framed dehorned Hereford cows, lightly finished and of plain quality, brought £6 10/-. Three smaller framed, similarly bred cows, showing a better finish, brought £6 7 /— . On account of Mr J. Mclntosh, Waimarama, an entry of medium-framed Aberdeen Angus cows, showing a solid finish and of good quality, realised £6 18/-. 0n account bf the same vendor, a further entry of similarly bred cows, smaller framed but showing a good fimsh, brought £6 10/-. An entry of medium to heavy primefinished Aberdeen Angus cows made to £8 3/-. . VEALERS AND RUNNERS A line of medium grown vealers, well done off their mothers and heavv. made to £4. A smaller grown line of Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross vealers in good order made to £3 o/~ A well-finished, heavy Hereford hci+er runner, very heavy for its size brought £4 18/-.
