BODY ON NAPIER BEACH
Knife Found Lying Alongside GASH ON A WRIST With a knife lying beside it, the body of an 'elderly' man was discovered ,by workmen this morning on the Napier beach. .The lefi wrist was gashed and it " appeared that the body had been on the beach during the night as the clothes "were damp with dew. Workmen engaged near the Breakwater found the body lying beside^ a rock on the beach near the Napier Borough Council quarry and the temporary railway line from the Breakwater. The police wer© communicated with, and Constable D. Beck and J. C | timings visited the seene and arrangjed for the' removal of the body^ to the morgue. Inquiries have been instituted regarding tho identity of the dead man. It is believed that he was named J. E. Pedersen, and that he had been staying at the Crown Hotel, Port Ahuriri, for some little time ; but what his occupation was' has not been ascertained. It is assumed that he came from Oslo, Norway, judging from a' visiting-card found on the body. i .
