Takapau. Meeting Opens

TAKAPAU, Last Nigiht. The Takapau Slieep Dog Trial Club's fifth annual meeting opened this morning in fine weather, marred only by a QO'ld wind. There was a large number of entries and some first-class exhibitions alre expected. Several extra trophies have been donated since the programme was published. The short head and yard event • was in progress to-day, some very good runs being made. The time for the short Jhead event has been extended to 15 minutes. The trials are being held on grounds kindly lent by Mrs F. de Stacpoole. The fixture is being conducted by the following oiffieials, with a strong committee: — Patron, Mr F. de Stacpoole; president, Mr W. J. Smith ; secretary, Mr V. Heyward; judge, Mr A. G. Stead; chief steward, Mr L. K. Mansen; dog steward, Mr W. Hobson; timekeepers, Messrs C. J. Campion and H. Hobson.
