HASTINGS TRACK WORK

"The Barb.")

Some Good Jumping

(By

Coutrary to the usual custom, there was fast work and jumping on Monday jiorning on the Hastings tracks, but mainly by the Hastings horees engaged at Foxton at Uhe week-end. Wykemist (J. Walsh) and Koyal Banquet (N. Trillo) were aBsociated in a round over the steepleehase fences. 3oth acquitted themselves satisfacto ra] y, albeit that Eoyal Banquet" Tan jff the second of the brush double. The jcuble on the schooling traclc is considered by some to be too narrow. Red Eufus (N. Trillo) and Oontact (,J. Walsh) gave a pleasing display cver seven hurdles, with the latter, wide out all the way, finishing in front uf Eed Eufus, close in, in 1.40. For a novice Tommy Atkiins (N. Trillo) went well over four hurdles, and gives the impression that he will be a handy second-rater later over either hurdles or country. Sir Nigel .was given a very easy ,ask when sent with Helios in a worlting gallop over seven furlongs. &ir Nigel is fit and well. Jazz Boy wos tried over a mile with Hamarin, but as the paee was slow vith tho exception of the last two furlongs, no guide as to the foriner's ability to go a middle distance was obtained.
