OBITUARY
MR. H. P. de MONTALK The announcement of the death on Eriday evening of Mr. Henry Potoeki de Montalk will be received with regret by residents of the East Coast and a wide circle of friends in other parts of the Dominion. Mr. de Montalk was 61 years of age. Mr. de Montalk was horn in Dunedin in 1875 and, after being educated in Christchurch, spent his early mankoed in the Auckland distiict. Twen-ty-nine years ago he settled on the Coast, and for two years managed a store at Tupara for the Jate Mr. T. S. Williams. After being employed by Ihe Tolaga Bay Trading Company and •tho Gisborne Sheepf armers ' Erozen Meat and Mercantile Company, Mr. de Montalk etaTted bueiness in the township on his own account, retiring four years ago on account of ill-health. The late Mr de Montalk was a prominent Ereemason, being the founder and first Worshipful Master of the Uawa Masonic Lodge. He was also a Justice of the Peace in the Tolaga Bay district for a number of years. Mr. de Montalk leaves a son, Mr, 'Kenneth "William de Montalk, Opotiki, and a daughter, Miss Eva de Montalk, Tolaga Bay. There are also living four brothers, Mr. James de Montalk, Havelock North, Mr. Bobert de Montalk, Wellington, Mr. Alec de Montalk, Suva, and Mr. John de Montalk, Auckland, and three sisters, Mrs4 Priestley and the Misses J. and V. de Montalk, ail of Auckland. The funeral, which took place at Tolaga Bay on Sunday, was of full Masonic ritual.
