Woman Seriously Hurt

AUCKLAND, Last Night. After skidding in loose metal at the approach to the Whangarata overhead bridge a largo sedan car driven by Mr. F. fcSmith, of Bombay, and going from Pokeno to Tuakau, struck the steel stanchions on the northern side of the bridge and was deflected. It crashed througli the handrails on to the opp.osite side, struck the railway cutting and came to rest on the metals 18 feet belowthe road. Severe shock, concussion and extensive lacerations to the neck and head were suffered by • Mr-. Smith. Her sister, Miss M. White, who was also a : passenger, received minor lacerations, but three children in the car were not injured.
